  • Where will our sessions take place?
All of our sessions are currently being offered through virtual care (i.e., telepractice). Our team of communication professionals have experience working virtually and would be happy to talk you through how it works! We have provided assessment and intervention through virtual care with children and adults of all ages. It is a safe, efficient and effective way of getting supported. If you have questions about whether this is the right fit for you, please give us a call at (514) 400-4551 or email us at info@constellationspeechtherapy.ca and we would be happy to set up a complimentary consultation to discuss further!
  • Do I need a referral from a doctor?
No, we can work with you without a referral. Anyone can refer themselves or a loved one to work with us!
  • Are your services covered by insurance?
We do not offer direct billing to insurance companies. Most extended health plans do cover services from a registered Speech-Language Pathologist. However, we strongly recommend that you consult with your provider to learn about your coverage. Our services are usually found under "Speech Therapy" or "Speech-Language Pathology". Additionally, sometimes a medical expense tax credit may be claimed. We recommend consulting with your accountant regarding this possibility. After our sessions, once payment has been received, you will be provided with a receipt that can be used to submit your claim or save for your records.
  • Is my child too young for speech therapy? Should we give it more time?
No! It is never too early or too late to get supported. There are many different approaches to intervention. Your Speech-Language Pathologist will work with you and your family to determine which one is the best fit. Speech-Language Pathologists can show you many strategies to help stimulate your little one's speech and language development. Early intervention has been demonstrated to make a difference. Trust your gut as a parent/ caregiver. If you have questions or concerns about your child's communication, we would love to chat. Our goal is to support and empower your family.
  • How long will we be working together?
Everyone has different speech, language and literacy goals. Some families work with us for only a few sessions, while we work with others more long-term. The amount of time that an individual or family will need our services varies. After your assessment, you and your Speech-Language Pathologist will collaborate and discuss a treatment plan.
  • How long is a session?
Assessment sessions are usually scheduled for 1-hour at a time (assessments may take more than one session depending on individual plan discussed with your Speech-Language Pathologist). The frequency and length of intervention (i.e., therapy) sessions will depend on the needs of each client. Generally, sessions take place weekly or every two weeks, depending on the needs of each individual. Sessions are offered for 45 minutes or 1-hour and may include discussion regarding progress, future goals and suggestions for continued practice at home.
